Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) is the only institutionally endorsed global carbon management certification program designed specifically for airports. Developed by Airports Council International (ACI), ACA provides a structured framework for airports to measure, manage, reduce, and ultimately neutralize their carbon emissions through independent assessment and verification.
The program has six progressive levels — Mapping, Reduction, Optimization, Neutrality, Transformation, and Transition — each requiring increasing levels of carbon management maturity, stakeholder engagement, and emission reduction performance.
From an assurance perspective, the credibility of your ACA certification depends on the accuracy of GHG inventories, the robustness of emission reduction strategies, transparent public disclosures, and independent third-party validation aligned with international standards.
ACA helps airports demonstrate environmental leadership, meet international climate obligations, and align with frameworks like ISO 14064, the GHG Protocol, and Net Zero pathways. It also supports compliance with investor requirements, airline sustainability expectations, and national climate commitments, reinforcing the airport’s role in enabling a greener aviation ecosystem.
